Home Flea Control for Raleigh, NC
Our home flea control program breaks the life cycle of the flea by addressing each of the four stages of the flea. There are three key parts to our treatment.
Egg and Larvae Elimination
The first portion of our treatment kills egg and flea larvae which accounts for eighty five percent of a flea population.
Adult Flea Elimination
The second part of our treatment eliminates adult fleas which account for five percent of a flea population.
What About the Other 10%? The Pupae
The remaining five percent of a flea infestation are in the Pupae stage. During this stage the fleas enclose themselves in a cocoon for fourteen days which cannot be eliminated. However your technician will apply a non toxic Insect Growth Regulator which prevents the adult fleas which emerge from the cocoons from laying any additional eggs – therefore breaking the cycle.
What to Expect
After our home flea treatment is complete you will continue to see fleas emerge from cocoons for fourteen days. What happens is when the flea senses warmth or vibration near them they break open the cocoon, leap on their host, and try to bite. This happens in almost an instant. Because there are twice as many pupae as adult fleas in any flea population, you can plan on twice as many fleas “hatching” out of their cocoons over the next fourteen days as the previous fourteen days. During this time you are encouraged to vacuum regularly.
How to Prepare for a Flea Treatment
In preparation for your home flea treatment you should make the home as clutter free as possible. Also we ask that you plan to leave the treated areas until dry, usually 30 to 60 minutes.
